Cirque du Ciel is a small charity, with a big heart, and even bigger ideas, offering opportunities to learn, develop, perform, and get involved in Circus, throughout Cornwall, and Devon, to everyone! Cirque Du Ciel emerges revitalised in 2018, after a brief period of dormancy, whilst new Trustees, and a new Charity Manager were found.
Cirque Du Ciel aims to bring the magic of the circus to both adults and young people across Cornwall and Devon. Offering a variety of circus skills workshops, career development, training, classes and performance opportunities, to anyone, and everyone motivated to get involved! The benefits? If you have the time, then this fellow says it better than we here at Cirque Du Ciel can!….
We work with all sorts of groups and organisations, with a socially conscious outlook. With a new, and exciting, mutually supportive working relationship with Airfish Circus Arts Collective, beginning in 2018, being the most recent. Airfish are a not -for-profit collective, made up of Cornish based professional, and semi – professional, freelance Circus Performers and Instructors, from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures.
As a result we are now pleased to offer ‘Everyone Welcome – Circus Skills Workshops’, on the ground and in the air! Thanks to the support of ‘Circus- Naomi’, local freelance performer, instructor, socially conscious entrepeneur, and ‘Chief Herder Of The Jazz Cats’ at Airfish Circus NFP and her team of Circus Mad friends and colleagues.
Where?….At two brand new, well equipped ‘Circus Academy’s’ at Penryn, and Crowlas, near Penzance. Contact us for details of what’s available, and how you can get involved! Tell us your circus dreams!
We’ll also be starting up workshops in Launceston, in collaboration with McQueen’s Dance School, and in Newquay, at Kernow Gymnastics and Acro Academy. Redruth too will see a new workshop for kids 7yrs and up, coming soon to Westcoast Academy.
We aim for everyone to have a safe place to play and be imaginative, be active, improve their confidence and self esteem, big and small alike. We aim to foster creativity, and freedom of expression, to bring rewarding challenges, and to encourage and support ways to positively invest in both individuals lives, and the wider the communities that they live in.
Up to now at least 70% of our work has been targeted towards disadvantaged children and we aim to be as inclusive as possible. We are not stopping there though!
2018 also sees CDC under new management, with a strong focus on including everyone, and creating a sustainable way of working, as Brexit draws ever closer!
We are a charity run by volunteers, so every penny donated, or paid for classes, or shows, goes straight to doing the work, at grass roots level.
We’re passionate about starting and maintaining long term projects, as well as achieving short term projects, to ring fenced funding allowances. To do so means we have to generate funds through, classes, and shows, memberships, and donations. Please show your love and support of what we do, and put a penny or two in our magic hat! Details of how you can donate coming soon!
Mostly we’re about doing, and listening….get in touch, we’re here for you! Yes…you!! So… let us know what we can help you to do, for yourself, your group, your school, or your event.
As an example Cirque du Ciel delivered over 420 hours of circus activities for over 1,500 children during school year 10/11 alone.
All of our tutors are trained, insured, CRB checked, and risk assess sessions.
Cirque du Ciel is a registered Charity in England No:1106043.
