Easter Holiday Circus Project |
Media Release 2nd AprilTuesday and Wednesday 7 and 8 April Young people from across Cornwall will be converging on Camborne Community School next week, for a 2-day circus performance project run by local charity, Cirque du Ciel.
Thirty 8 to 16 year olds are expected to take part. They will have a chance to build on the skills they’ve learnt in Cirque du Ciel’s after-school workshops throughout the county, as they put together a performance for the Wednesday afternoon.
Junior juggling champion, John Udry, will be back in his native Cornwall as special guest teacher and performer. There’ll also be a whole range of other skills on offer, including stilt-walking, Diablo, acrobatics and unicycling. There’s even an opportunity for parents and carers to come along on Tuesday afternoon so that the young people can share their skills with them.
Cirque du Ciel’s manager, Alison Knight, who joined the charity in January as its first paid employee, said something like: ‘Running an intensive 2-day project like this is a new venture for Cirque du Ciel. Because we’re working towards a performance, it will have a specific focus. It’s also an ideal opportunity to bring young people together to share their skills and make new friends.’ Cirque du Ciel is a registered charity which runs circus skills workshops in Cornwall, catering for all abilities and covering a wide range of skills. The Easter Holiday project is supported by Awards for All and Lloyds TSB, and the post of charity manager is funded by the Henry Smith Charity.
