'Britain's Got Talent' Star to inspire youngsters

Media Release 19th September

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star Merlin to inspire Cornwall's Young Circus Stars. Escapologist, Merlin Cadogan, who scared the nation on TV’s Britain’s Got Talent when he juggled fire underwater, will be joining Cirque du Ciel’s circus workshop on Saturday 19 September.

Cirque du Ciel charity manager, Ali Knight, explained: ‘Merlin is coming along to promote our circus clubs. He’ll be giving a demonstration, but we won’t be teaching the children to hang upside down and escape from burning ropes. It’s very much a “don’t do this at home” show.

‘However the children will get to learn some safer circus skills. We’ll have all the things we offer at our clubs available, along with the teachers to show them how. There’ll be juggling, diablo, stilts and unicycles.’

Merlin himself is looking forward to his visit to Cornwall. He said: 'Circus workshops are great for kids. They get to learn amazing skills which are healthy and fun. Who knows, one of the young people who come along might be a future "Britain's Got Talent" contestant.'

The special event will take place at the YMCA in Redruth from 12.00 to 14.00. Advance tickets cost £5 per child, with an additional charge of £3 for an optional brunch which will be available from 11.00 until 12.00.

Tickets are being sold in advance on a first come, first served basis, and the organisers do not expect there to be many left to sell on the door. If there are still some available on the day these will cost £6 per child. Accompanying adults are free, and the event is not suitable for anyone under 5 years of age. Visit www.cirqueduciel.org.uk for details.
